How it works
Current passes between the two electrodes and meets the tissue's own resistance, and that resistance makes the heat inside the skin rather than on it. Conductivity and water content govern where energy lands, so melanin never enters the equation; Lin and Kumar say the same in a 2025 case series. Our RF treatment notes put the working goal at roughly 45 to 60°C in dermal tissue, where collagen starts to respond.
Two things then happen, on two clocks. Heated collagen fibres shrink right away, the change a client sees the same afternoon. The slow half matters more: controlled thermal injury runs the three phases of wound healing, inflammatory, proliferative and remodelling, with new collagen laid down over months. Nothing on the front panel speeds that up.
Bipolar or monopolar, in plain language. Bipolar puts both poles in the handpiece, so current arcs the short way between them and stays shallow; our manuals give that range as epidermis, dermis and the top of the subcutaneous layer, about 5mm down. Monopolar uses one pole plus a return electrode on the body, so current runs deeper and reaches fat. Our archive assigns monopolar to body shaping and cellulite, bipolar to facial tightening. RF-01 is bipolar.
Technique isn't optional. Gel first, full contact, and the head keeps moving on a zigzag or circular path, three to five passes per zone. Park it on one spot and you burn someone.
