HIFU Machine Price — What Drives the Quote

The headline number is the least useful one on the page

You send one enquiry to six factories. The replies spread wide enough that you assume the cheap end is junk and the expensive end is padded. Sometimes true. More often it's a packing-list gap, not a quality gap, and the quotations describe different objects wearing the same name.

One includes two handpieces. One includes one. One ships four cartridges, one ships two, and the cheaper supplier's optional depths cost more per unit than its whole discount was worth. Nobody lied. The format just hides the parts that keep charging you.

So stop comparing headlines. Compare quotation lines.

Give the HIFU machine price a size before you read another quotation

You want an order of magnitude, so here's one built from figures you can check rather than a range we invented. Any HIFU machine price splits into hardware bought once and cartridges bought forever, and our own HF-01 configuration sheet shows how lopsided that split is on the purchase order alone. Five cartridges ship as standard across the two standard handles: 3.0mm and 4.5mm on the 4D handle, plus 1.5mm, 3.0mm and 4.5mm on the V-max. Twelve cartridge positions exist once the optional depths are counted. A room that wants face and body buys about two and a half times the cartridge count that arrives in the crate, in units rather than money, before replacing a single spent one. Count the lines on whatever quotation you're holding. Cartridge lines outnumber hardware lines, and only the hardware ones ever stop.

Now the running rate, assumptions stated so you can swap in your own. One HF-01 shot delivers 12 lines, per our specification. Park and colleagues, in the pan-Asian expert panel adaptation published in 2021, found 800 to 1,200 lines optimal for a full face and neck, customised per patient. Call it 67 to 100 shots a face. Run twenty faces a month and you push 16,000 to 24,000 treatment lines through finite cartridges every month, so 576,000 to 864,000 over three years. That assumes face and neck only, one room, and the panel's multi-depth mapping. Add body depths and it climbs.

Then set it against revenue, because hifu machine cost means nothing until it sits next to a ticket price. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons put the 2023 US average physician fee for noninvasive skin tightening at $2,326, up from $1,832 the year before, in a category that ran 439,032 procedures in 2024. Twenty treatments a month for three years is 720 treatments, roughly $1.67 million at that average fee. Your market almost certainly bills less, so run it on your own number. The rule is the same either way: console plus every cartridge for thirty six months has to sit comfortably inside that sum. A quotation that doesn't has already answered you.

The console is the part that stops charging you

Generator, cooling, power supply, screen, firmware. That's the console, the line every supplier itemises, and it goes quiet the day the crate opens. Our HF-01 carries a 10 inch touch screen, which matters for a dull reason: your operator reads depth, energy and remaining capacity at arm's length with the other hand on a handle. Presets are a starting point for a trained operator, never a clinical authority. Ask whether your interface language is included or billed, whether firmware updates cost anything, and whether presets can be edited or sit locked.

Handpieces are the line most often quietly trimmed to keep a headline competitive. Each one is a transducer housing with its own electronics, so two consoles at the same price, one carrying two handles and one a single handle, are not the same purchase. Our HF-01 ships two as standard, a 4D handle plus a V-max handle, with the vaginal handle listed as optional rather than folded into the price. The shallow 1.5mm layer lives on the V-max. Buy the one-handle version of anything and shallow work either doesn't happen or costs you a second console later.

Which cartridges ship, and which arrive later as an invoice

Here is where two quotations diverge for good. Cartridge economics is the whole game, because the console is bought once and cartridges are bought for as long as the room earns. Our HF-01 specification splits standard from optional like this.

Read that as a budget, not a feature list. Two clinics buying the identical console spend differently from month one, because the depths they need sit on opposite sides of that table.

Then pin down what a cartridge holds. The published instructions for use for the Ulthera System, a widely cleared microfocused ultrasound platform, show the console reporting treatment lines remaining against the transducer's total line capacity, and warn that the expiration date must be checked because expired transducers should not be used. That same document lists a treat line adjustable from 5 to 25mm, and narrow transducers scanning 14mm where standard ones scan 25mm.

So a headline shot count is not a unit of work. Change the assumed line length and the number moves while the hardware sits still. Get capacity in treatment lines, the line length that count assumes, the replacement price per depth with a validity period, and the shelf life. A cartridge that expires unused cost you full price for nothing.

Now do the arithmetic nobody does for you. Take the cartridge price difference between two suppliers, multiply by the treatments you realistically expect each month, then by thirty six. Set that beside the console discount. Total cost of ownership is a two minute sum, and it regularly reverses the ranking you started with. Paperwork, freight and the room it lands in

Documentation reads as a formality until a shipment sits in bond. It's a line item, and in some markets a recurring one. Ask which documents name your exact model rather than a product family, including the test reports behind any certificate. High intensity therapeutic ultrasound equipment has its own standard for basic safety and essential performance, so ask what was tested against it and by which laboratory. Then find out who holds the registration in your destination market and who pays to keep it alive. Great Britain shows the recurring part cleanly: devices must be registered with the MHRA before going on the GB market, a manufacturer based outside the UK must appoint a single UK Responsible Person, and the fee from 1 April 2026 is 300 pounds a year for each registered category.

Freight has its own trap. A quotation without a three letter Incoterms rule isn't a quotation, it's an estimate. The ICC publishes eleven Incoterms 2020 rules, each splitting obligations between seller and buyer, with the costs of a rule gathered at articles A9 and B9 and clearance at A7. Ex works and delivered duty paid can describe the same machine at wildly different numbers, and both are honest. Volume is on your side: the HF-01 packs at 20 x 40 x 54cm and 11kg gross excluding the base. Then the room. Our device manuals ask for 10 to 30 degrees Celsius, 20 to 80 percent humidity, and a voltage regulator above 3KVA where local supply sits outside range. The HF-01 runs on AC110V or AC220V at plus or minus 10 percent, 50 to 60Hz. Check your actual wall socket, and count the accessory list on unboxing day. One missing connector is a second shipment.

Training is a line item, and skipping it is expensive

The reference instructions for use put it plainly: that system is intended for use only by properly trained physicians and properly trained persons working under such a physician's supervision, and US federal law restricts its sale to or on the order of a physician. Treat any HIFU platform the same way, whatever your local rules technically permit.

The clinical skin atlas in our engineering archive lists burns with swelling and blistering, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation, secondary infection and rare scarring among the adverse effects of overtreatment with energy devices, and pigmentation risk runs higher in deeply pigmented skin. An undertrained operator is not a saving. Anything resembling a lesion belongs with a clinician first.

Ask what "training included" means in hours, language and format, and whether it repeats when your therapist leaves in month nine.

Why we quote per configuration, and what to send us

We don't publish a single price for the HF-01 4D HIFU platform, and it isn't coyness. A face-focused clinic ordering two depths and one training block, and a distributor ordering ten units with body cartridges and market paperwork, are two quotations that would both be wrong flattened into one number on a web page. What we will do is fill in every line item above, so the comparison stays honest.

Send the configuration instead. Your market, your treatment mix, how many rooms, which depths, how many operators. Then send the identical worksheet to everyone else you're weighing.
